French artist Constance Estelle Gardinal (b. 1991) has always oriented her life choices in favor of the visual arts.

Naturally curious, she developed rich and varied interests during her art studies in Bordeaux and her early career as a Fine Arts teacher in a workshop in Pessac, as well as technical mastery of several mediums, ranging from colored pencils to embroidery, until oil painting became her preferred medium today.

It is in a daily struggle against the chronic and disabling disease that is endometriosis that she reveals complex and enigmatic emotions in stagings of her own hands or her body. These moments seem familiar to us and come to question our personal relationship with the complexity of the environment in which we live. She forces us to experience intimate moments outside the places that protect us, like the bed, and highlights the dichotomy of emotions. We all feel them, but we are alone in experiencing them fully in our body.

"I paint self-portraits without faces, textile arabesque landscapes and floral places where it is possible to lose oneself in a moment of contemplation."
